We are family

Hello lovers and strangers,

My little sis came to visit me for a couple days this week. Entertaining a young'en is hard - especially hard when she's the most silent young'en the world has ever known, but she's my baby sis and I love her fiercely - some claim too fiercely (I jump to her defense even when it's unnecessary and tend to answer questions for her since I know she's shy). Sorry Kaykay. Love you.
Night one, we chilled in and lit a fire, and sat around with our laptops doing dick all. Norma was very happy to have a new face in the house and refused to leave her alone (she's such a slut).
Cozy, non?
Day two we went to my work for lunch with Jess, then I took her to Forever 21 for the first time - her eyes lit up like a christmas tree and she finally got to use the gift card I got her for her bday. Post-shop we went tanning, got our nails did (I'm very happy with this wacky bright sorbet-type color!) and made FAJITAS mmmmmm...

Post fajitas we went to The Central to visit the infamous Raymi and teach sis a little bit about big city livin'

The minx is looking like a smokin' babe these days... I may have to stop hanging out with her to avoid jealousy, especially now that she's single and livin' it up. She's officially my pimp (as seen in her recent blog post.)
My sis is too pretty for her own good. Gentleman watch your hearts - she's gonna break them.

Miss you, sissy-poo. Come back again soon!

P.s. I bought a super fancy new camera (Canon Power Shot SX20) so my blog is officially back in business!

Peter Gabriel releases "Scratch My Back"

In case you haven't heard, I love Peter Gabriel.
I also love the fact that this album is here and I have it in my hands. I'm a song and a half in and my heart is already swelling.

As previously reported, Scratch My Back is a collection of cover songs from artists like David Bowie, Arcade Fire, Bon Iver, and Radiohead.

What I wasn't aware of, is that this album is entirely orchestral - no guitars, no drums. As such it is beautiful, sweeping, lovely and dark. Gabriel has once again set the bar and done something brilliant, unique and cutting edge.

Even more exciting is the companion album that is set to follow this, in which the artists who Gabriel has covered will cover his songs. Needless to say, my mind is BOGGLING at what David Bowie will cover and if my mind and heart will be able to handle it.

And to top everything off, Gabriel will be performing the album live at only 3 venues in North America this spring. New York City, Los Angeles and Montreal... I believe I must attend, if only I can find someone who shares my passion for Peter that is willing to spend the money to get there - lord knows it will be worth it.

I'm still taking it all in - more to come.

Tracklisting:
1."Heroes" David Bowie
2."The Boy in the Bubble" Paul Simon
3."Mirrorball" Elbow
4."Flume" Bon Iver
5."Listening Wind" Talking Heads
6."The Power of the Heart" Lou Reed
7."My Body Is a Cage" Arcade Fire
8."The Book of Love" The Magnetic Fields
9."I Think It's Going to Rain Today" Randy Newman
10."Après moi" Regina Spektor
11."Philadelphia" Neil Young
12."Street Spirit (Fade Out)" Radiohead

I will blog in lieu of a regrettable drink-and-email episode.

Knowing you're in town hurts.
Knowing you're in town and I won't hear from you hurts.
Knowing I'll never see you again hurts.

But in the end, I know it's no fault of mine and life carries on.

I just want this weekend to be done with.

Zooey to play Pamela in new HBO series!

Oh my word! It seems Zooey Deschanel is set to star as my fave-rave Pamela Des Barres in a new HBO series based on I'm With the Band - the fabulous memoire of Des Barres' life and loves in the 60's and 70's (and my favourite book of all time)!

I've always wished to play the role of Pamela, but I couldn't think of anyone I'd rather lose that role to than Deschanel - she's the perfect actress to capture Miss Pamela's charm.

This will be the best show ever made. I cannot wait!
