Sex and fried chicken

Kings of Leon, one of my fave raves, are on the verge of releasing a new album.
Title: Only By The Night
Release: Sept 23, 2008

When I first heard the new single "Sex on Fire" I wasn't blown away, but when they kicked into it live in Jersey at All Points West...I had to pick my jaw up from the festival grass. It would seem that another brilliant album is on the way, and I am very excited. I know there are a lot of KOL 'purists' out there - who think that they 'sold out' with Because of the Times, but I am not and have never been of that opinion. I believe it is important for a band to grow and change, and just because the sound got bigger and more produced and polished, does not mean the music somehow got worse. So yes, this album is sounding like it will be along the same lines as Because, it sounds big - but it sounds blinding.

Now...the video for Sex on Fire has been released, and I am quite intrigued. I can't quite figure out the concept or any sort of storyline, but it's photographed beautifully and obviously directed by a woman because the Followill boys have never looked quite so striking. It's basically very confusing, plot-less, PG pornography for women of taste, but unfortunately, everytime it started to get going (ie. the drummer, Nathan, about to submerge his lovely locks in a bowl of water), the video immediately cuts to guitarist Matthew, ripping into a piece of fried chicken. Talk about a buzzkill.

Singer Caleb writhes around on a cot of some sort - apparently possessed by a black smoke (a la green mile?)

Bassist Jared runs around catching chickens...

Drummer Nathan seems very concerned with his bathing rituals

...while guitarist Matthew is getting slapped around and eating fried chicken.

Take a look, and tell me what you think. Theories on the concept of this strange clip will be interesting to read:

PLEASE NOTE: I was unable to embed the official youtube video, so

It's all black magic rituals.

Those boys should stay away from dark alleys, for I reign there and I am my name.
