In case you haven't already been made aware, Toronto's West end was hit by a massive blackout last night. Of course, I was smack dab in the middle of the effected area and spent one of the coldest nights so far bundled up in 3 layers under 2 blankets trying to keep warm.
This was what my street looked like last night:
Totally spooky. Like something straight out of a horror film. It was quite unsettling to say the least, considering I was home alone as well.
Woke up this morning to an ice-box apartment and the news that it was going to take 18-24 hours for power to be fully restored. With no hot water or cooking capabilities, I had to call in the troops. Raymi was kind enough to offer her place for warmth and a shower, and I gladly took it. The walk was weird. There were way too many people walking around and traffic cops at every intersection...
After 24hours, and much funtimes hanging with Raymi, my power was FINALLY restored. I'm back home now, and it's still an icebox, but the heat is on...and that's a damn good start.
(As a power-outage victim AND a Vegetarian... I found this sign tres insulting)
