Day old blues

This time last year...

...I was in California, at Coachella, watching amazing bands, reuniting with old friends, discovering new places.

*sigh*

The travel bug is biting hard. I haven't been away since NYC in October. Last year I went to California, NYC twice, Jersey. The year before that I went to London and NYC. The year before that was Mexico. I need to get on a plane. I need to go!

But alas, I start my new (and wonderful) job as Publicity and Promotions Coordinator for a kickass Entertainment Publicity firm downtown on Monday, so travels aren't on the horizon for me just yet. There are tentative plans to hit up Summerfest in Milwaukee over the Canada Day long weekend and see my dear old friends from the Wildbirds, but those have yet to be confirmed (fingers crossed)!

I thrive on traveling, hopefully when I get my license back I'll be the queen of weekend road trips. I just wish I could take off now.

Sorry for being neglectful - going through a big transition with the move, and the lack of a working camera to document it has left me pretty uninspired as far as blogging goes. I'll try to get better.

KINGS OF LEON ON TUESDAY! Wheeee!

Festival Bummer '09

It's that time of year again, kids.
FESTIVAL SEASON.

I was waiting with baited breath for this years big festival announcements. Coachella and Bonnaroo - couldn't wait to see who would be playing and which fest I would attend.

But now that they've been announced... I'm so unimpressed...
Okay... number one, Are you REALLY going to put THE KILLERS on the same level as Macca and The Cure? That's just sad. Number two, is Amy Winehouse even going to show up? and IF SO does she actually deserve such a prominent slot? Number three - way to book a billion shitty hipster bands. ROBOT MUSIC. blar.
Bands I WOULD recommend if you're going: Alberta Cross, Elelctric Touch, Jenny Lewis (obvs)

Uh... TWO NIGHTS OF PHISH? TWO NIGHTS? Are you fucking SERIOUS???? I can't even get past that far enough to care about the rest of the lineup.
Bands I WOULD recommend if you're going: Alberta Cross, Jenny Lewis (obvs), Grace Potter, oh, and if you don't go see Elvis Costello, you're a dick.

Here's hoping Lolla and APW will book some winners.
And where are KOL in all this? I thought they'd be a big staple on the circuit this year.
hmmmm...

Move to the Music

Yes I know I don't write anymore. I apologize, but I've been here and there, to California and back, and busy busy busy.

Coachella was great, and it helped me come to several realizations:

-Don't ever settle on a travelling companion. It will ruin your friendship.
-Don't ever see MIA again
-Don't ever smoke weed again. Smoking weed made you black out and miss Dark Side of the Moon, idiot. NEVER AGAIN!

I also found new imaginary Rock band boyfriends at Coachella.
#1: American Bang http://www.myspace.com/americanbang

#2 Electric Touch

http://www.myspace.com/electrictouchmusic

oh how I adore pretty bands.
In fact, American Bang has a song that I believe they may have written about me...

"Move to the Music"
American Bang

She got her lipstick on
big purse full of cigarettes
black book full of the rockstars that she's sweet on
Well she loves the guys but she comes for the music
rock fist in the air and she's not afraid to use it
cause its her motto, its her motto

If you wanna bump it bump it loud
if you wanna shake it shake it now
if you've got your ticket join the crowd
move to the music, move to the music, come on!

She got her cell phone, ringtone bumpin' with the bang song
calling all the kids from california all the way to hong kong
next city, next state, different room same place
she's front center dancin' with her drink on
she says, "don't you love them? aren't they great?
take your coat off and dance with me"

If you wanna bump it bump it loud
if you wanna shake it shake it now
if you've got your ticket join the crowd
move to the music, move to the music, come on!

...sounds about right.

Coachella '08

Since I am in school and working constantly lately - I decided to treat myself to a mini-getaway between semesters. Thus, I have bought my ticket to Coachella - the 3 day music festival in California.

The Lineup:

I'm thinking the lineup is a bit lackluster compared to past years, but hopefully they'll add more artists closer to the date. I'm crossing my fingers for The Black Crowes and Kings of Leon.

Who would be added to your Coachella lineup?
